SOWO Surgeboom 2 Portable Bluetooth Speaker Review

Recently, I was on the lookout for a new portable Bluetooth speaker that could handle all my music needs, both indoors and outdoors. After sifting through numerous options, I came across the SOWO Surgeboom 2, a speaker boasting impressive specs like IPX7 waterproofing, 25W stereo sound, and a 16-hour playtime.

Intrigued by its features, I decided to give it a try, and after using it for a while, here’s my detailed review.

Design and Build Quality

The SOWO Surgeboom 2 is a solid piece of tech that immediately catches the eye with its durable fabric and sleek cylindrical design. The speaker feels well-made, thanks to the injection molding process that integrates two types of green materials into a unified structure.

This not only enhances the durability but also gives the speaker a premium feel in hand.

The black color adds a touch of elegance, making it suitable for any setting, whether it’s your living room or a rugged outdoor adventure. One of the standout features is the inclusion of RGB LED lights that emit up to 256 levels of brightness.

These lights aren’t just for show—they pulse and change in sync with the music, adding an extra layer of entertainment, especially in low-light environments.

Connectivity and Features

When it comes to connectivity, the Surgeboom 2 doesn’t disappoint. It uses Bluetooth 5.0, ensuring a stable connection even at a distance of up to 100 feet.

This is particularly useful when you’re outdoors, and your phone isn’t always within arm’s reach. Pairing the speaker with my devices was a breeze, and the connection remained strong throughout my usage.

A feature I found particularly useful is the TWS (True Wireless Stereo) pairing capability. By pairing two Surgeboom 2 speakers, you can create a true stereo sound experience, doubling the audio output to 50W.

This setup transforms any space into a personal theater with immersive sound that surrounds you from all angles.

Sound Quality

Now, onto the most crucial aspect sound quality. The SOWO Surgeboom 2 delivers where it matters most. Equipped with 25W stereo audio drivers and two wide bass passive radiators, this speaker produces a powerful and clear sound.

The bass, enhanced by SOWO’s proprietary BASSBOOM technology, is deep and resonant, making it perfect for bass-heavy genres like EDM or hip-hop. Even at higher volumes, the sound remained clear without any noticeable distortion.

What really impressed me was how the speaker managed to fill a large outdoor space with sound. The stereo effect is well-pronounced, giving you a rich and immersive audio experience. Whether you’re hosting a small gathering or just chilling by yourself, the Surgeboom 2’s sound quality won’t disappoint.

Battery Life

Battery life is another area where the Surgeboom 2 excels. SOWO claims a 16-hour playtime at 50% volume, and in my experience, the speaker lived up to this promise.

Powered by a high-capacity super electric vehicle battery, the Surgeboom 2 can be recharged over a thousand times without losing performance.

This is a significant upgrade compared to the standard 300 recharge cycles of most portable speakers.

The long battery life means you can enjoy your music all day without worrying about constantly recharging. Whether you’re at a day-long beach party or a weekend camping trip, this speaker has got you covered.

Durability and Portability

One of the key selling points of the Surgeboom 2 is its IP67 rating, which means it’s both waterproof and dustproof. I tested this feature by bringing the speaker to the beach, where it was exposed to sand and water.

True to its claims, the Surgeboom 2 withstood everything I threw at it. I even rinsed it off under running water after it got covered in sand, and it worked perfectly fine afterward.

The speaker’s lightweight and compact size make it easy to carry around. It comes with a braided lanyard, allowing you to attach it to your backpack or bike, making it an ideal companion for outdoor activities.

Final Verdict

The SOWO Surgeboom 2 is a versatile and robust portable Bluetooth speaker that excels in almost every department. It offers exceptional sound quality with deep bass, long battery life, and a durable design that can withstand the elements.

The added features like TWS pairing and RGB lighting make it a fun and functional choice for both indoor and outdoor use.

If you’re in the market for a reliable, high-performing portable speaker, the SOWO Surgeboom 2 is definitely worth considering. It’s a perfect blend of style, durability, and powerful audio performance, making it one of the best options available in its price range.
